Hilda Baci breaks record with worlds largest pot of jollof rice
LAGOS, Nigeria Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has achieved yet another remarkable feat by setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style Jollof rice, cooked at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The record-breaking cookout, held in collaboration with food brand Gino, produced a staggering 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds 9 ounces) of Jollof rice officially recognized as the largest serving ever prepared. The giant pot, measuring nearly six metres across and holding over 22,000 litres, was filled using about 200 bags of rice, along with hundreds of kilograms of tomatoes, peppers, onions, and spices.
The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of more than 20,000 people, including celebrities, influencers, and top public figures. Among the distinguished guests was Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, the First Lady of Ogun State, who commended Hilda for promoting Nigeria’s culinary culture and inspiring young chefs.
Speaking after the record was confirmed, Hilda Baci said, “This record is not just about me it’s about Nigeria, our food, and the joy of sharing it with the world. Jollof rice is more than a meal; it’s a celebration of who we are.”
The Guinness World Records team officially verified the achievement, adding another milestone to Hilda Baci’s growing legacy. She previously gained international fame in 2023 for her Guinness World Record-breaking cook-a-thon, where she cooked for 93 hours and 11 minutes straight.
