Beyond the Classroom Foundation Launches The Amplify Show Ahead of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
The Beyond the Classroom Foundation (BTCF) proudly presents The Amplify Show, a four-episode radio advocacy series airing on Eagles FM Abuja as part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, observed annually from November 25 to December 10. The series is crafted to spark national conversations, deepen public understanding of girls’ protection needs, and advance practical solutions to the most urgent issues girls face in both physical and digital spaces.
Hosted by Raquel Kasham Daniel, Executive Director of BTCF, The Amplify Show brings together sector experts, advocates, and practitioners to explore how communities, institutions, and policy makers can better protect girls. Aligned with this year’s global theme, “UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls”, the programme links grassroots realities to the urgency of stronger systems and safer online environments for every girl.
The series opens on November 25 with a conversation about strengthening school reporting systems for gender-based violence with Olanike Timipa-Uge, Executive Director of Teenage Network. That episode centers on the barriers students face when disclosing abuse, the gap between policy and practice in many school settings, and practical steps to build confidential, child-friendly reporting and response mechanisms that truly support survivors. Moving into the digital terrain, the show’s second episode on November 28 examines the rapidly evolving threats of AI misuse, deepfakes, impersonation and other forms of tech-facilitated abuse, and offers concrete guidance for girls, parents and educators on staying safe online while calling out the systemic weaknesses that leave many unprotected with Oluwaseun Olorunmeye Daniel, CEO of AIKI Hub for Innovation and Development.
On December 2, The Amplify Show turns attention to sexual harassment in higher institutions, probing the power dynamics that allow harassment to persist, the lived experiences students rarely have the platform to describe, and the implications of legal reforms such as the recently passed Sexual Harassment Bill for accountability and safer campus cultures, with Abubakar Abdullah, the Communications Officer at Gender Mobile Initiative. The series concludes on December 4 with an essential but often-overlooked conversation about girls with disabilities and online abuse. This episode highlights the compounded vulnerabilities faced by girls with physical, sensory, intellectual or psychosocial disabilities, explores how digital abuse intersects with exclusion, and outlines inclusive strategies for caregivers, educators, service providers and platforms to ensure disabled girls are visible in safety efforts, with Kaseina Nkom Dashe of Voice PWDs Community of Practice.
Raquel Kasham Daniel explains that the series is intentionally varied in scope and audience: “We chose these topics because protecting girls means tackling problems in schools, in lecture halls, in homes, and online. Each episode is designed to move listeners from awareness to action, and to make inclusion and accountability central to the solutions we propose.”
The Amplify Show is produced under BTCF’s Beyond Her Odds Project, which ensures that girls are better protected in their homes, schools, communities, and digital spaces. The project is proudly funded by the IGNITE Consortium, supporting BTCF’s work to empower and safeguard girls across Nigeria.
